DPS follows the CBSE Curriculum based on Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation. The CCE is a developmental process of assessment which emphasizes on two objectives. The focus is on the continuity in evaluation and assessment of broad-based learning and the other is on behavioural outcomes which are monitored.
The CCE Programme emphasizes that evaluation of identified aspects of a student’s growth and development is a continuous process rather than an event, built into the total teaching and learning process and spread over a span of the entire academic session. It means the regularity of assessment, frequency of unit testing, diagnosis of learning gaps, use of corrective measures and retesting to guarantee improved student performance.
To ensure the same, vertical and horizontal mapping of the curriculum, promotion of moral education values, real-time and UAE connect are the primary focus and these serve as the foundation of the academic experience.
Comprehensive refers to the fact that CCE covers both scholastic and co-scholastic aspects of a student's growth and development. Since abilities, attitudes and aptitudes can manifest themselves in forms other than the written word, the term refers to the application of a wide variety of tools and techniques (both testing and non-testing) and aims at assessing a learner’s development in areas of learning like Knowledge & Understanding, Applying Analyzing & Evaluation and Creating.
CCE is thus a curricular initiative, attempting to shift emphasis from testing to holistic learning. It aims at creating good citizens possessing sound health, appropriate skills and desirable qualities besides academic excellence in an environment that is stress free. CCE not only makes evaluation comprehensive and regular but it also provides the tools for diagnosis and remediation. With the focus on making all learning a student- centric activity, it will equip the learners with the confidence required to meet the challenges of life with success.
