DPS follows the CBSE Curriculum based on Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation. It is a developmental process of assessment which emphasizes on two objectives. The focus is on the continuity in evaluation and assessment of broad based learning and on the other behavioural outcomes are monitored.
The CCE Programme emphasizes the fact that evaluation of identified aspects of a student’s growth and development is a continuous process rather than an event, built into the total teaching and learning process and spread over a span of the entire academic session. It means the regularity of assessment ,frequency of unit testing ,diagnosis of learning gaps, use of corrective measures and retesting.
Comprehensive refers to the fact that CCE covers both scholastic and co-scholastic aspects of a student's growth and development .Since abilities, attitudes and aptitudes can manifest themselves in forms other than the written word, the term refers to application of variety of tools and techniques( both testing and non-testing) and aims at assessing a learner’s development in areas of learning like Knowledge & Understanding , Applying Analyzing & Evaluation and Creating .
CCE is thus a curricular initiative, attempting to shift emphasis from testing to holistic learning .It aims at creating good citizens possessing sound health ,appropriate skills and desirable qualities besides academic excellence in an environment that is stress free. CCE not only makes evaluation comprehensive and regular but it also provides the tools for diagnosis and remediation . With the focus on making all learning a student centric activity it will equip the learners with the confidence required to meet the challenges of life with success.
